Harassment Stories

Shazia Marri:

Shazia Marri is an elected member of the Sindh Parliament (Sindh Assembly) belonging to the main opposition party, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). On May 16, during the assembly session, a member of the government benc

hes Ishwar Lal harassed Shazia Marri by handing her an offensive note. This got her opposition infuriated and some of them manhandled the government MP Ishwar Lal. However, the Sindh Chief Minister and government members hurled and issued harassing statements and words attacking Shazia with their sexism. Shazia Marri was further harassed when Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim issued a statement to the press. “Female opposition members come after having make up worn from beauty parlors to the assembly every day, there is some thing wrong with them” said the Chief Minister. Shazia’s party filed a criminal case against their opposition in response. However no action has been taken against the harassing government member.
